A Short Story - "Music in Main Park", inspired by Glenn Miller, Part 1

''Ba-dum Ba-dum Ba-dum Ba-dum, Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba dum bum." I listened slowly to the steady sounds of the drums from Glenn Miller's band. The record player was my most prized possesion because I listened to Glenn Miller on it.
Just then, my little brother, Mac, toddled in clutching his favorite teddy bear, Dinky. ''Apple juice!" he cried, tugging on my pants. I sighed. I knew I would get no peace until I gave Mac his apple juice.
''Come on Mac, let's go get your apple juice.'' I said as I hoisted him on to my back for a piggy-back ride. I went downstairs and gave Mac his juice. Then I yelled to my Mom,''Going to Main Park to practice on my trumpet! Back in an hour!''.
She shouted back,''Be home before dinner!'' ''Got it!'' I grabbed my trumpet and walked as fast as a lizard out the door.I was walking so fast I didn't notice Glenn Miller in front of me. I collided int Glenn Miller in a swirl of papers.
' Dreadfully Sorry!'' I said, picking up papers. ''I guess I just...'' My voice trailed off. '' Your, Your Glenn Miller!''
''Yes I am. I see you have a trumpet. I've always needed a trumpeter and some youngstors in my band.'' He said thoughtfully.
